One of Northern Michigan’s most popular holiday attractions, the Grand Traverse Heritage Center Festival of Trains, just wrapped up for 2009.
8,265 people enjoyed the model trains throughout the holiday season! This annual event raises money for the Grand Traverse Heritage Center and is put on by the Northern Michigan Railroad Club.
Special needs students and area school children also attended the festival the week of December 14th.
Sponsors included The Concrete Service, Currie’s Furniture, ABC 29&8, TV 7-4, Oliver Specialties, Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home and Swingshift and the Stars.The Festival of Trains is the major fundraiser for the Grand Traverse Heritage Center, which is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, promoting, and presenting the history of Traverse City and the Grand Traverse region.
